Students from grades K-8 learn basic music terms, music structure, differentiating sounds, rhythm and information about instruments using various activities that are age appropriate. Younger students learn music techniques through hands-on playing of Orff and rhythm instruments, and through different movement activities. In addition, students develop their voices by singing songs from various countries as well as worship music. Students become familiar with the works of many composers.
Students in grades 5-8 choosing Band or Vocal Ensemble as their Fine Arts Elective will enrich their skills further in these areas throughout the year.
